Part 1: Must-Have Accessories for the Ricoh GR IV (My Pre-Order Kit)
Like many Ricoh fans, I’m still waiting for my Ricoh GR IV pre-order to ship to my local store. While the wait can be frustrating, I’ve been using this time to prepare — and that means picking up a few essential accessories that will help protect the camera and make it ready for everyday carry (EDC) use.
The Ricoh GR series is known for being minimalistic and pocketable, but that also means accessories play a big role in making the camera durable, practical, and more enjoyable to use. Here are the must-have accessories I’ve already bought for my Ricoh GR IV.
1. Screen Protector
The GR’s LCD screen is one of its most important components — it’s your viewfinder, your menu screen, your playback display. Given how often I’ll be carrying the GR IV in my pocket or bag, a tempered glass screen protector was my first purchase.
Now, here’s the catch: since the GR IV is brand new, I’m not 100% sure if existing GR III / GR IIIx screen protectors will fit perfectly. Most sellers list them as compatible, but until the camera arrives, there’s always that small doubt. Worst case, I’ll need to grab a version made specifically for the GR IV once they’re widely available.
- Protects from scratches, dust, and accidental bumps.
- Reduces fingerprints and smudges.
- Even if it’s a temporary solution, it gives peace of mind until official GR IV protectors hit the market.
Since I am not in a hurry, I ordered mine in Aliexpress which is the cheapest option but may take awhile. There are alternatives below depending on your preference.

2. Protective Case
The Ricoh GR is small enough to carry without a bag, but that also makes it vulnerable. I picked up a custom-fitted PU leather protective case to give it extra protection without adding bulk.
- Helps avoid scratches when carried in pockets.
- Adds grip and comfort for longer shooting sessions.
- Keeps the camera looking fresh even with daily use.
Again, I ordered the cheap Aliexpress option but there are genuine leather case you can buy in Amazon as well. I will post a review of the soft case once I am able to use it.

3. Neck Strap
The GR IV is a true pocket camera, but there will be plenty of moments where I’ll want it around my neck or shoulder, ready to shoot. I believe the package includes a wrist strap so having a lightweight neck strap is the perfect balance:
- Prevents accidental drops.
- Keeps the camera accessible while walking or traveling.
- Makes it easy to switch between pocket carry and neck carry.
Multiple options and preference you can chose. I already have a peak design quick release strap so having something compatible will be ideal. Peak design has their own but is expensive, i found a cheap version in Aliexpress and hoping that it will not disappoint when it arrives.

Why These Accessories Matter
The Ricoh GR IV is designed to be an everyday carry camera. That means it will live in pockets, bags, or around your neck — exposed to scratches, bumps, and accidents. These three simple accessories:
- Extend the life of the camera.
- Protect resale value.
- Make shooting more comfortable and worry-free.
By investing in them now, I know my GR IV will be ready to handle daily life from day one.
Final Thoughts
While I’m still waiting for my Ricoh GR IV to ship, these must-have accessories help me feel prepared. If you’ve pre-ordered (or are planning to buy one soon), I recommend starting with the same essentials: a screen protector, protective case, and neck strap.
That way, when the GR IV finally arrives, you’ll be able to carry it confidently — and focus on shooting, not worrying.
